Funimation & Crunchyroll Partnership

For those of you who pay attention to the inner happenings of the anime industry this may be old news but for those of you who haven’t heard; Funimation and Crunchyroll have announced a partnership deal! This is pretty exciting news for fans of anime. The best part is that this deal doesn’t favor one side over another. It makes both sub fans and dub fans happy which will hopefully lessen the divide in the anime community. Now if you are a Loot Anime subscriber already or if you’ve seen our review videos then you know about the partnership between Loot Anime and Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll is making moves in order to bring the anime community together using multiple platforms and I think it’s a great idea and it’s going to pay off big time. Now to the meat of the deal. All we know is what was posted on the two sites but it goes pretty much like this: Funimation will start moving it’s subbed library over to Crunchyroll so the two will have a sort of joint custody of the license for the show. The flip side is that Crunchyroll will give Funimation permission to dub a lot of the shows in it’s library. The ones of note posted on Funimation’s site were Mob Psycho 100, 91 Days, and Orange. The sharing of content and allowing more dubs is a huge deal. Now fans of dubs will have more shows to choose from and those who like subs can get a larger selection as well. Also if I read the article right on then you’ll be able to watch shows on both Funimation or Crunchyroll with one subscription. That’s huge news!! If true then now you don’t have to worry about getting multiple subscriptions in order to watch your favorite shows and that saves you money!! Funimation has listed the price for it’s subscription service at $5.99/month or $59.99/year. Again the whole sharing subscription thing may not be true and the titles will just be transferred over, but still, you won’t have to have multiple subscriptions unless you really want to. The last part of the deal talks about DVD/Blu-Ray rights for home release. Several of Crunchyroll’s catalog of shows will now be scheduled for release to DVD/Blu-Ray by Funimation. The releases will include both English subs as well as dubs. Now this won’t be an overnight type of thing. It’ll be done in stages so it won’t be instantainious but it’ll be well worth it. God! I can’t describe how excited I am for this deal. Even if some of the details that people are speculating about are wrong it’s still a monumental deal. Two of the biggest titans in the industry are coming together to make the world a better place for anime fans. The only thing that would be better would be if Sentai Filmworks joined in (Wink wink nudge nudge). Anyway it’s truly a great time to be an anime fan! We’ll stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. Also down below will be links to the articles on each company’s respective sites so you can check out the details for yourself as well. I’m extremely excited about what the future holds for the anime industry and anime fans in general. As always everyone, thanks for your continued support!!!!
